God a World Away

Friedrich Nietzsche

The Will to Power

§ 1036
(1885-1886)

The world as we know it is too cruel to imply the existence of a humanitarian God. In fact, our cruel world implies an inhumane god. But some are afraid of this being true. So they cling to their notion of a humanitarian God. To do so, they must posit a humane domain that he rules. Thereby they fabricate another world which no one among us resides-in.
